About

Maybe you're a single mom or an empty nester. Maybe you love your job or maybe you hate it. Wherever you are in life, I think I can help you.  You see, I spent many years feeling guilty about being at work when I had a small child at home.  I often took work home. One time, I worked 21 straight days without a break.

We often hear people speak of work-life balance.  Let me propose work-life harmony. Although many people work 40 hours or more a week, most of us don't have 40 hours a week to spend on life.  By the time we get ready for work, commute to and from work, pay bills and manage a household, there isn't much time left.  So what do you do?  That's where I come in. I will show you how to create harmony between your personal commitments and professional goals.

For many years, I struggled. I didn’t know how to manage my time, my career, my money or my body. I knew deep inside that there had to be a better way. I started asking questions.  I went to seminars and conferences.  I read books, and I hired a life coach.  I learned the best strategies for having peace and harmony at home while succeeding at work. I created simple and effective ways to get healthy, lovingly care for my family, advance professionally, build a side business and improve every area of my life.

I will show you how to:

  • Create harmony between your work and home life;
  • Take great care of your body without becoming a fanatic;
  • Advance professionally as an entrepreneur or employee;
  • Achieve the goals that have been tugging at your heart for too long;
  • Manage your money wisely;
  • Create and implement high productivity rituals.

I will help you to become a better version of yourself.

About Me

I have been mentoring and advising on a personal and professional level for over three decades. I am a proud graduate of Howard University and The University of Virginia School of Law.

I began my career as a prosecutor, spent a year in a corporate legal department and then represented a state social services agency for 10 years. After 12 years in public service, I opened a boutique law firm. I embraced the “counselor” piece of my title and often advised prospective clients to work on their relationships instead of paying me to dissolve them. Currently, I am practicing administrative law with the federal government.

While I owned the law firm, I started a local Christian lifestyle magazine. Although the magazine had a few thousand readers, the ad sales never came close to meeting the expenses. After 18 months in the red, I stopped publishing the magazine.

Once I learned how to take excellent care of my body, I published my first book, Quit Skinny, 7 Simple, Sane Steps to Wellness, which shows you why you should ditch diets, injections, and punishment and focus on what's important, wellness.

This website is a culmination of the lessons, failures, mistakes and victories of the past 30 years. Here, I tell you what I wish I knew 30 years ago, 10 years ago or last month. I don’t want to see you take dozens of years to learn what I can show you in a few short paragraphs.

On a personal note, I have two adult daughters. Jordan is a visual and performing arts major at Savannah State University. Brittany is a middle school math teacher and is pursuing a master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary.

While Jordan was still in high school, I took care of my late aunt during her final illness. Shortly after my aunt’s death, I became my mother’s legal guardian and was her caregiver during the last two years of her life.

Being a single mom and a caregiver while working full time was the most challenging period in my life. I could mention dozens of times when the Lord showed me exactly what to do. Only my faith in Christ propelled me through those difficult days.

I enjoy reading biographies and personal development books. New York is my city crush, and I also enjoy international travel. I support World Vision, Food for the Hungry, and Christian Light School in Haiti.
